Mitochondrial Medicine
Thriving to solve mechanisms of diseases,
and use the knowledge to benefit the patients
The mission of the ASWlab is to understand the molecular basis of mitochondrial disorders and use this knowledge to improve diagnosis and therapy
In the ASWlab we study mitochondrial disfunction and diseases at the molecular level. Mitochondria are cellular organelles that play a central role in energy metabolism, and are involved in many ways in maintaining cellular function.

Our goal is to understand what happens in the mitochondria of cells when mitochondrial function is disrupted and mitochondrial disease occurs, and ultimately develop ways to treat mitochondrial patients-
